Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 September 2026. Plain language, no lawyer-speak where we can help it.
The short version: Your recordings stay on your device and save to your Photos. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps. The only thing we collect is anonymous usage analytics to make the app better.
Who we are
FaceBubble ("the app", "we", "us") is an iOS app that shows your camera in a floating bubble over other apps so you can record or live-stream your screen with your face on top. The app is free and does not require an account.
What the app accesses on your device
Camera
The camera is used to show and record your face in the floating bubble. The video is processed on your device. We never receive or store it.
Microphone
The microphone is optional. If you enable it when a recording starts, your audio is captured as part of the recording. It stays on your device.
Photos
With your permission, finished recordings are saved to your Photo Library. We only add videos you create; we never read your existing photos.
Live streaming
If you choose to go live, your video and audio are sent directly from your device to the streaming service you selected (such as Twitch, YouTube or Facebook) using the stream key you entered. We do not receive, relay, proxy, or store your stream. Your stream keys are saved only on your device. Once your video reaches a streaming service, that service's own privacy policy applies.
Analytics we collect
To understand which features are used and to fix problems, the app collects anonymous product-analytics events (for example: a recording started, a save succeeded or failed) together with a device-generated identifier. This is processed by our analytics provider, PostHog, on servers in the European Union.
- It is not linked to your name or identity — we don't collect one.
- It is not used to track you across other apps or websites. FaceBubble does not use App Tracking Transparency tracking and shows no ads.
- It is used only to improve FaceBubble.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We do not show advertising.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not upload your recordings to our servers — there are none for your video.
Purchases
FaceBubble is free. It offers an optional one-time tip to support development, handled entirely by Apple's In-App Purchase system. We never see your payment details; Apple's privacy policy covers that transaction.
Third parties
- PostHog — anonymous analytics processor (EU hosted).
- Apple — App Store distribution and In-App Purchases.
- Streaming services you choose (Twitch, YouTube, Facebook) — only when you actively go live, and only with the stream key you provide.
Data retention & your choices
Anonymous analytics are retained by our provider only as long as needed to understand product usage. Because the data isn't tied to your identity, we generally can't single out one person's events — but if you have any concern, email us and we'll help. You can stop all analytics collection at any time by removing the app.
Children
FaceBubble is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Meaningful changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
